George Washington was an American political leader, military general, statesman, and Founding Father of the United States, who served as the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797. Washington led the Patriot forces to victory in the American Revolutionary War, and presided at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, which established the Constitution of the United States and a federal government for the United States

1771 -Washington sat for the first of 7 portraits from which Peale eventually created 60 paintings.

1775 -She wrote a poem to George Washington, who invited her to his headquarters in Cambridge.

She tried to get George Washington to give up the fight against the British. When that didn’t work, she tried to bribe an official to arrange for peace. This led to her property being confiscated. What followed was a long struggle to get it back.
