‘Crazy Joe’ Gallo, known for his chaotic approach, became infamous in the mafia world for challenging bosses in Brooklyn, With his brothers Larry and Albert, he sought control of the Profaci, later Colombo, crime family. Gallo was celebrating his birthday at Umberto's Clam House in Little Italy with his family. It was a well-known mafia restaurant owned by Matty the Horse Ianniello. However, due to mob tensions linked to the earlier shooting of Joe Colombo, Gallo was targeted by gunmen who ambushed him there. Despite efforts by his crew, he succumbed to the attack, with his murder remaining unsolved.
