Deuce Gates, commissioned for the entrance of the Austin Tennis Center, consists of two steel panels featuring abstracted tennis players. The concept for the gate design involved the integration of human activity with objects utilized in the sport of tennis. Figures simulating game play are inset into a perforated steel sheet. The holes represent tennis balls, the woven wire mesh below represents the net, and the house-shaped gate perimeter represents the tennis community.
