CambridgeSeven worked with the Museum of Science to develop a new masterplan and wayfinding system centered around the multi-story lobby and Charles River Gallery. The renovated lobby acts as an advanced organizer and portal to the different worlds of the museum which are noted by a color-coded system; the Blue Wing houses physical science galleries, the Green Wing houses galleries of the world`s natural wonders, and the Red Wing takes visitors on explorations of other worlds and space. Reorganizing the lobby helped to reclaim wasted space and make room for the “Charles River Gallery.” At the heart of the museum, this gallery grounded MOS on the river outside, and used it as an example of how nature and design interact. These exhibits highlight the local ecologies of the river and help introduce visitors to Boston`s natural environment.
