Spurred by David Peterson De Vries, famed navigator, a new stone church was built within Fort Amsterdam, measuring 70 by 52 feet.
Relocated, 1693
This church served the congregation until 1693, when a new church opened on Garden Street. The original stone church was later used by British forces

Destroyed by fire and not rebuilt. Its cornerstone, rediscovered in 1790, was lost in the 1835 fire. On its first construction there was a stone placed in front with, the inscription, "An. Dom. MDCXLII., W.Kieft Dir. Gen. Heeft de Gemeente dese tempel doen bouwen." In the year of our Lord 1642, W. Kieft being Director General, has this congregation caused this temple to be built."
Eglise du Saint Esprit-Up to 1688 the French congregation worshipped in the Dutch church in the fort, but in that year they put up a church of their own
