An influential American Founding Father, attorney, jurist, and leader during the American Revolution. Hailing from New York, he played crucial roles in the First Continental Congress, the Second Continental Congress, and the Congress of the Confederation. Duane also served as a New York state senator, the 44th Mayor of New York City, the city's first post-colonial mayor, and a United States district judge for the District of New York. He was a signatory of both the Continental Association and the Articles of Confederation.
