SoFi Stadium, formerly a decommissioned racetrack in a city lacking neighborhood parks, is now the anchor of the 298-acre Hollywood Park precinct. Los Angeles Rams Owner E. Stanley Kroenke envisioned a 365-day destination by integrating Southern California's climate, shifting activities outdoors when the stadium is not in use. This privately funded project supports public well-being, infrastructure, climate resiliency, and green spaces.
As the NFL’s largest indoor-outdoor stadium at 3.1 million square feet, SoFi Stadium includes three venues: a 70,000-seat stadium, the 2.5-acre covered American Airlines Plaza, and the 6,000-seat YouTube Theater. The landscape features 25 acres of open spaces, walking paths, plazas, and microclimate zones, creating habitats for diverse species.
The parks and open spaces utilize rolling arroyos, bioswales, underground cisterns, and an innovative artificial lake to collect, treat, and reuse about 75% of stormwater. The lake uniquely mixes stormwater with reclaimed water and filters it before reuse.
